Hi,

My question is:

Why don’t young people (excluding myself) like books (generally)?

Books are usually viewed upon today as if they are some sort of nasty disease, of which there is little cure from the boredom. Books are not boring! The people who say books are boring are boring themselves. My English teacher said, as a response to the phrase ‘books are boring’: “You’re simply not reading the right books”. In the past, reading was a privilege and anyone who could read was looked highly upon. In today’s society, even with public libraries everywhere and discount W. H. Smith offers, books are almost ignored. There are some exceptions to this rule, of course, but anyone who is seen seriously reading 2 or more books in their time at school is seen as a geek or bookworm.

I have never been called the latter (mainly an American phrase), but some of my friends have. I have a friend and she walks along and reds at the same time. I cannot begin to know how the hell she does it, but the sad thing is everyone else is very critical of her. She also reads in lessons, this has caused many “Put that book down” or “are you reading”?

So why do you think it today’s society it’s seemed as a bad thing to read books? Drop us a message in the comments box.

Hello,

Gay marriage is a very controversial concept some believe that anyone should be allowed to marry anyone but some people think that the shouldn’t be allowed. This may be that the religion they believe is thinks that only male and females may marry another reason could be is that they just don’t think anyone could marry another partner of the same sex.

So I asked the question: “Do you think that gay marriage should be allowed?”, and this was there response.

How it is: “Absolutely. Everyone should have the right to be miserable with that special someone.”

Angela: “Yes, why not?”

Disturbed: “Yes. Love is good!”

oOdaisyOo: “Yes, marriage is the joining of two people in love. It doesn’t matter if they are gay.”

tjluvsjefef24: “Haven’t we already answered this like a gazillion times? Yes, it should be allowed.”

LEG: “yes.”

Miguel: “Why not? It’s not like they don’t pay taxes. It’s there country too.”

LaraFarah: “ think it should be allowed – I think it is bad that they are not allowed in a major part of the world because I personally think its like taking away their free will. Gay people are humans too.”

xxpeplyxx: “Yep 100% if someones in love with the same sex why should it matter they should have equal rights!!”

pchsvioloncello: “Come on guys! Everyone knows that marriage is a holy union, blessed by god and intended only for breeders!”

Johnie 13: “Only for gays! But what does the Bible say??”

rockfish: “I guess one sickie deserves another.”

E: “As a person about to have a “gay wedding”, I would say yeah!”

marius b: “By being a Christian, I do not agree with it. But one sin does not out weight another. I can not judge you and no one else can judge you. We all commit sins. I don’t think that family members should dis-own you either. We should love people regardless.of what they do, that does not mean we have to like what they do. Keep your head up and do what makes you happy.”

Jake J: “Of course, gay and hetero people pay the same taxes, have the same responsibilities, have the same rights under law, elect the same politicians, are law abiding citizens..the gov should stick to governing and stay out of people’s bedrooms, if a church doesn’t want to perform the wed service then that’s their right to chose, but the gov represents all people..I’m not gay but I don’t know why people act so homophobic when it doesn’t affect their lives in any way, it’s ok for a gang banging, drug dealing gansta thug to get married but not a law abiding gay person..how is that ethical and fair? ..tell me”

OldD: “No, it is an institution of God not man. Man cannot make the rules he is told by God to follow them. Tell me this, how can a preacher or man of the cloth wed two people of the same sex??? They among anyone know that God doesn’t condone it. One man for one woman! Gays may “marry” but their relationship will never come even close to the one that a man and woman share.”

Cassandra: “This country has made alot of mistakes, and illegalizing love is definitely one of them. Gay people should be allowed to get married without people criticizing them. They’re not hurting anyone so I don’t see what the big deal is. Even if it continue’s to stay illegal, they’re still going to date each other, love each other, and have sex. So what are we stopping or trying to avoid by making gay marriage illegal? Just like slavery was based on skin color, now marriage is based on gender? I don’t think it’s right.”

Texicano: “Allowed? How is it going to be prevented? I live in a state that has outlawed gay marriage but it did not stop me from having a long-term monogamous gay relationship that I and my entire family consider a gay marriage. In a free country you are a fool if you think you can legislate how adults should live their lives.”
